7 Spectacular Plants We Can Add to Your December Garden!

Hey, Emma!
I’d like to add some new plants to my garden this December. What is in stock? Can you deliver?
Thanks!
--Oliver, Overwhelmed in Oregon City, Oregon
Hey, Oliver!
That’s a great question!
Trust me—I understand why you might be overwhelmed this time of year! At WyEast Gardens, LLC, we consult with you about the best plants for your microclimate, soil, and sun. We can install an irrigation system which takes all the hassle out of remembering when you turned the water on and when you should turn it off! We even have systems you can turn on and off from an app on your phone. That’s right! You can sit on a balmy beach in Hawai’i and water your garden back in Oregon!
One other thing to keep in mind: By ordering your plants now, you are paying 2024 prices and saving money on the higher 2025 prices.
So, let’s look at what we can deliver for you to plant OR deliver and plant what you want!
All of these are small, potted plants:
- Viola comuta “Elain” blooms vibrantly in spring and early summer with blossoms that are a delicate, lemon yellow and have a visually striking deep lavender color around the flower’s edges.
- Tanacentum p. “Aureum” is a member of the aster family of flowers. Often called a “tansy,” this Golden Feverfew Tansy has white, daisy-shaped flowers and aromatic leaves on a bushy, perennial plant.
- Aquilegia v. “Leprechaun Gold” is in the Columbine family and boasts bunches of freckled foliage in gold and chartreuse. In April and early May, violet flowers blossom on top of spectacular 2’ spikes.
- Lysimachia a. “Beaujolais” or “Purple Loosestrife,” has silver-green leaves and rich, wine-red flowers.
- Dwarf Pennyroyal is a dense ground cover that resists weeds. That’s handy!
- Golden Oregano has two purposes in your garden: It is an herb with fragrant leaves and lavender flowers AND it can be a ground cover resistant to weeds.
- Bergenia “Vintage Blush” is descended from older Bergenias which survived for over 100 years without any care. This study and easy to care for has a multitude of blush pink blossoms nestled in rich, green foliage.
I will write additional blog posts on more plants available for December planting in Metro Portland!
